Don’t want to be considered a fire-breathing dragon on you wedding day? Wedding experts say there are just a few simple tips a bride should follow if they want their wedding day to be the best day of their life. According to Natalie Clarkson, a wedding consultant at Dream Occasions, there is a popular unhealthy trend that appears to be growing amongst brides. |

“There is an epidemic that is sweeping the country and plaguing recently betrothed women,” Clarkson said. “Symptoms include bouts of selfishness, controlling behavior, mood swings and compulsive meticulousness. Only recently has this bridal disease been officially recognized and the name of it is Bridezilla Syndrome BS.” However, your wedding does not have to be stressful and Clarkson offers brides several simple tips to make your wedding a day you will never forget. One of the first things Clarkson recommends to brides is to delegate. “There are probably several people you know who would love to help you in some aspect of your wedding. Remember, there are minor tasks that others are capable of carrying out. They can be trusted! Having a sister or friend to alleviate the pressures will help your stress levels enormously. For instance, she could contact suppliers before the wedding to ensure everything is on schedule, or maybe she has more time to buy the favors than you do. If your work commitments leave you with precious little time to plan and arrange a wedding, call in the professionals. Wedding planers do the job for a living and will ease your worries without taking over.” Clarkson also reminds brides that they need to remember they must keep their prospective about their big day. “Your future happiness does not depend on your wedding alone and a perfect wedding day does not guarantee a perfect marriage. Remember, it is OK to become absorbed by the wedding and yearn for a prefect day, but never forget what is truly important, the union of two people in love and committed to each other, in other words, the marriage.” Clarkson also encourages upcoming brides not to become bogged down with details. “Focus on the excitement and wonderful memories that you are creating and try not to sweat the small stuff!” Clarkson encourages brides to make sure that they take time out to pamper themselves. She encourages brides to treat themselves to massages, arrange coffee dates with friends and make sure they spend quality time with their fiancé. “In other words, make time for yourself and the people that you love.” Other tips include maintaining a sense of humor, talking to the groom about his involvement: accept the fact the bride cannot control everything and setting a daily wedding talk ban. “Set yourself a time, say 8 p.m., after which there is to be no more wedding talk. This should happen on a daily basis! Not only will this allow you to free your mind of wedding stress, you’ll be able to discuss the other things that are happening in the lives of your friends and family. There is a world outside the one of weddings!” |
